NFC South Notes and Observations
By far the worst division in the NFL last year, the NFC South is a little better this season, but not much. The winning team in this division could have a 9-7 record, which is slightly better than the 7-8-1 Carolina Panthers were last year. The 7-9 Seattle team in 2010 was the only other losing team to win a division title. Carolina will have the toughest route to reach the top of the NFC South again playing at Seattle in Week 6 followed by three straight home games against Philadelphia, Indianapolis and Green Bay. The Panthers also play at Dallas in Week 12. The next toughest schedules belong to New Orleans and Tampa Bay, both of which play Philadelphia and Indianapolis on the road. Atlanta has the easiest trek, with its lone difficult non-division game on the road against Dallas in Week 3.
