Industrious high school senior, Vee Delmonico (played by Emma Roberts), has had it with living life on the sidelines. When pressured by friends to join the popular online game Nerve, Vee decides to sign up for just one dare in what seems like harmless fun. But as she finds herself caught up in the thrill of the adrenaline-fueled competition, the game begins to take a sinister turn with increasingly dangerous acts, leading her into a high stakes finale that will determine her entire future.
If there ever was a movie produced for millennials it is NERVE. A popular online game that entails real life experiences. It screams millennials. Even the promo sheet sent out by the studio screams millennials. They added “hashtag” to the credits. And, of course, we obliged and included in the write-up. The movie is guaranteed to be a hit with teens and maybe the crowd in their early 20’s. The question on many parent’s minds is will the film lead to an underground culture of kids replicating the stunts you see in the movie and an increase in petty teenager crime or worse, teenager accidental deaths? Time will tell, time will tell.
